Beautiful venue but we went for afternoon tea and there were no staff at the counter. After 5-10 minutes we found someone who took our order. Tea and coffee arrived and were very nice. We waited 40 minutes for 2 scones and had to go in and remind them we were still waiting. They then said sorry- 5 minutes but had obviously forgotten.
It was a beautiful building with equally beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately, the room we were staying in was not well maintained. Bathroom fixtures were falling apart.
The food provided for the wedding reception was not appetising at all. The whole 3 courses were very bland and not tasty at all, from starters to desserts. The best thing about the hotel was the service. It was excellent from check-in to table service during the reception and in the morning for breakfast. I will not book for a holiday here.
Recently stayed here for two nights and can’t recommend it too highly. This historic hotel is great - the setting, gardens and lawns are magnificent. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food, drink and service at Katers Restaurant are outstanding.
Was not the escape to the country I was hoping for! There's no sound proofing so you can hear EVERYTHING in the next room including every time the taps etc are used in the bathroom. What surprised me was that they had high vacancy- so why put guests in adjacent rooms when you know they're not sound proof? Wouldn't you want to make the guest experience as great as possible and avoid reviews like this? Defies logic.
Really disappointed because the grounds, food and staff were lovely. I was looking for somewhere lovely to run away to when I need to escape Sydney!
We are a recenty retired couple who like to play golf, so we operate on a budget but also like to be comfortable. Two nights a Peppers Manor House whilst we played golf at Mt. Broughton. Room was upstairs in the Garden Wing, very quiet & comfy room with recently upgraded bathroom, linen & towels were excellent. We mentioned that it was our anniversary and they left us a really nice card & fruit platter, a nice touch. Breakfast was ample with a good selection of cereals and your normal brekkie spread. Thank you, we will come back.
We have stayed here before, so based on the hotel's room configuration, over the past few days, I have attempted to make a booking directly with reception. This was to ensure my specific requests satisfied our group's requirements (7 rooms adjacent to each other and nearby) - particularly a dedicated private balcony.
It appeared to me, this was not straightforward, with many push-backs thrown into my path in order to achieve this request...
At a total cost of over $5,387 for the number of nights we wished to stay (plus potential add-on costs such as lunches, dinners, drinks, etc for 13 people), I should have thought my request to have the 10% discount off the room rates (offered on their website) would be easy to apply. I also assumed this was a perfectly reasonable request.
But, no! I was told, "For this to apply you need to book online through the website." No help, no customer service... Nothing!
So, I cancelled the booking this morning... I expect better manners, better customer service and better help...
In LESS THAN A MINUTE, I received a reply from Reservations: "No worries the booking is cancelled." No personalization, no attempt to recoup the booking... Nothing!
RUDE!!
Clearly my perceptions were correct... They don't need us as guests.. Our booking (as I had perceived throughout the email communications with Rachel) was unimportant or too difficult for this girl to want to bother with!!!
For goodness' sake, how difficult is it to apply a notation to the booking - seeing as I have done all my communication through reception - to apply the discount? Not a lot to ask, I should have thought?
Anyway, I shall now book at Berida Hotel. We are always treated very respectfully - with friendly grace and cordiality - and feel valued as return guests, which suits me and my party... We're used to this.
It's not cheap to stay at Peppers Manor House. You may wish to reconsider how important courtesy and customer service is when you want to stay in the Southern Highlands.
I have tried to reach out to someone/anyone for help to get a quote for a group booking, we love the look of this property outside of Sydney so we can do an executive retreat, I've called twice, been transferred, have emailed my specs via their site and still no response. I know things take time but coming out of Covid I thought businesses were screaming for business and customers?
We were given a room in the main building upstairs. We couldn't sleep the entire night as there is some kind of machine noises, vibration and thumping and this happens regularly during the night. When I gave a piece of my mind at the reception during checkout, we were simply told this will be reported to the manager. Clearly the room is unsleepable as it is next to either a kitchen or airconditioning system. TV and kettle were very old. No slippers were provided. Dirty patches between water tap and wash basin in bathroom.Very basic and noisy room. Would not recommend.
